Sumptuous Sonic Crescendos

A more creative take on the festival fever that sweeps the UK these days, North East’s Sound Festival of New Music is keen to explore the nooks and crannies of musical divergence with a mission to persuade fans to seek out and enjoy new horizons. The brave programme includes a Nordic Weekender with groups and composers from Norway and Sweden and a ‘vocal weekend’ featuring the Exaudi Vocal Ensemble with Endymion.

They also champion fresh and innovative Scottish music via a showcase in partnership with New Music Scotland. Watch out for Kasule – three men and a machine who don’t so much make music as create spectacular mesmerising soundscapes that build from pulses and tones into sumptuous sonic crescendos then fracture into a thousand little burbling hooks.
